I would like to make a suggestion. Treating someone like they are stupid, makes them feel stupid, and therefore deffensive. I agree that tact is key here. I am very new to this hobby, and have made some honest (stupid) mistakes. One thing I hate, is when a person talks down to me, or makes me feel bad, when I honestly didn't mean to do anything wrong. And honestly, sometimes, people who claim to know everything, in fact, do not. Case in point, my local Petco. We bought our first tank there, and they gave us tons of bad information, and then made us feel terrible when we had fish die. We thought at the time, we were taking advice from professionals. We didn't even know you had to cycle a tank, and these people never explained, but just kept trying to push more products on us. This is part of the reason we joined this forum. It seems like your heart is in the right place, but try not to be too angry. We all had to start at the beginning and build our knowledge, and hurting someone's feelings does not help them gain knowledge. Just my two cents, as a fellow "stupid" person trying to learn.
