In prolonging the agony of this discussion from the other thread, I am seeking the most dumbed-down explanation of this question:

If CO2 produces an acid (I assume carbonic acid) then why is the KH not affected, considering the KH absorbs and buffers acids?

I KNOW that CO2 does NOT affect KH, but I am wondering WHY it doesn't considering it forms an acid. Sorry for being so annoying with this subject. I want to make sure I cover all the bases before I dive into another plant aquarium and pressurized CO2.

Just for reference ammonia is more toxic at higher PH's
