So can anyone tell me how to make a plant dip to get rid of an pests or diseases on a newly purchased plant? I know a lot of people dip/soak their plants in certain solutions to be on the safe side before adding them to their tanks so I thought one of you DIY loving planted tankers would like to share some insight on this. Thanks to everyone who answers! :BIG:

Is the liquid or powder what you guys use?

That is the stuff!
You need to very cautious handling and using(read and follow EVERY warning).
I'm going to link you to a couple GREAT articles on use of PP.
BIDKA The British And International Discus Keepers Association - library, Potassium Permanganate
Potassium permanganate | The Skeptical Aquarist
This last one is a link from the skeptical aquarist;
Potassium Permanganate
Good luck,be careful .
The PP is also a great med and dissolved organic remover used in the right application.:popcorn:

so it's toxic?

Yup!
It is an oxidizer like chlorine.
For just plants you should be fine and safe with dipping/bath.
Understand it completely and have H2O2 on hand when using with fish.

You need to read the links.
The intended use for the product you linked is to precicpate iron from water softener systems.
So it is used safely in other applications also ,but you need to understand it.
2lbs should last you a lifetime++(I have 4lbs!).
