Planted Cichlid Aquarium?

I have never kept live plants in an aquarium before and I want to to try it out. I want to keep some plants that do not require CO2 and are hardy.

1 Gold Severum
1 Blood Parrot
1 Jack Dempsey
2 Black Convicts (not breeding them)
1 Oscar

I do not want to use dirt, just fine gravel. Will this work?

your severum will eat them and the Oscar will tear them out. Look at the video I just put up on your other thread. You can try but I'm sure you will have problems with plants and that stock.

I'll just stick to artificial plants then, lol. The last thing I would want is to have a bunch of dead plants.
