There's debate on whether substrate has anything to do with barbel erosion at all.

Is there any harm to keeping the runners attached to the mother plant? I kind of like the floating around look.

The runners consome more energy leavn the mother plant with less nutrients, I would reccomend takn off the runners once they get about 2 inches with a good root system...another thing to look at ...no trims the runners off the mother plant in nature

I got some Eco complete substrate today. Is there any harm if I put the substrate down on top of my under gravel filter and then put my gravel on top of that?
