Getting your dosing down is a huge part of controlling algae, I didn't believe it either until I started dosing EI. Now I have BBA algae in one tank and that is from CO2 which I need to build a power diffusor for and should be clean and clear soon after. Then I can concentrate on trimming and the important thing, the fish.
