etropicals.com is supposed to be owned by the same 2 doctors as liveaquara.com (which I have heard wonderful things about). Anyway, on Sunday I ordered 2 false percula clowns. On Tuesday when the fish came they sent me 2 Royal Grammas instead. So I called them up and they sent my clowns out yesterday. I recieved them today & I am completely through their recommended acclimation process and the fish are not moving at all. They must be dead! I am so fed up with this company! Has anyone ever dealt with this company before?! :x

are they laying on the substrate? What did they look like when you got them? Check to see if they guarantee live fish for a certain amount of time.

Are they breathing? Some fish will be in shock after shipment and not move at all. When I got my shipment from saltwaterfish.com, they said not to be surprised if the fish goes straight to the botom and sits there.

That was exactly what happened. The next day he was moving a little and today he is very active. If you just acclimated them, just be patient. You can tell if they are breathing.

Good luck.

I haven't dropped them into the tank yet...they are still in the shipping bags. I let them sit in the bags for 15 minutes, then I opened the bags & put 1/2 c. of my tank water in every 4 minutes for 45 minutes. I am afraid to put them in my tank if they are not swimming...I don't want my crabs to eat them. (They've already eaten a different fish before). I do not see them breathing at all. etropicals does offer a 14 day guarantee (which is why I ordered from them) but I am really getting irritated with this company.

Do you think it would be ok to drop them in the tank if they aren't moving? I'd hate to see my crabs get these guys too. :( (I don't have a QT tank set up)

If i were u i'dget one of those breeder holders , u can put them in the tank cause they have holes in them , they should be okay there

Are their gills moving?

I have dealt with this company before and they have always been good. They will also stand behind their product and their guarantee. They have a 14 or 17 day guarantee. One shipment I had a dead staf and they credited my account right then.

We need to find out if they are dead or not. Are they showing any movement. Are they floating, on their side, in the corner, ect....??

Their gills are open but they are not moving & their mouths are hanging open. The one fish is laying on it's side and the other is upside down in the corner. They have not moved at all since I got them.

I deleted your duplicate thread and merged the two. I also moved to the sick fish forum...

Nope, they just float around when I move them. I assume they are dead? I am so irritated with this company! Yeah, they said they'll refund me but it's still very irritating to have to go through this. Especially when I have a 4 yr old who was so excited for Nemo to come and now he's dead. :x

If the gills are not moving what so ever do the fish have decent color? Are the eyes still clear?

Contact etropicals and tell them about the acclomation and the current visual status of the fish. They should determin the fish's didnt make the transport process and send you out yet another set. They may ask you to go ahead and finish the acclomation process and observe the fish for an hour or two in the tank.

I take it your tank lights are off. the bag is floating in the tank water and the bag is open? Have you had to dump any water out of the bag yet? You didnt say anything about that and if not then they must have shipped some very big bags or there want much water in the bag to begin with.

They do have nice color...very bright orange, white & black. Their eyes look fine too, not clouded over or anything. I did contact etropicals and they will not send another set out, they will just refund my money. At this point I don't think I want their fish anymore...especially since they sent the wrongs ones the first time and now I have 2 possibly dead ones. The girl said they sound dead to her and it's useless to continue acclimating them. I am the hopeless optimistic though and was kinda of hoping they'd miraculously come back to life or something.

My tank lights are off as well as the lights in the room I'm in. The bag is open, floating in my tank. The bag has been full 2 times now so both times I dumped 1/2 out and added more. It's now full again...should I do it again or is it a waste of time?

Sounds like you did everything just like they suggest. Where the fish like this when you opened the bag? I see your in NJ. How cold did it get last night? When did you get the fish today? Was the water in the bag cold to the touch when you opened it?

I guess they wont send more fish cause they consiter it being the 'second' replacment. ODD IMO.

Yeah the fish were like this when I opened the bag. I just figured it was normal b/c when I recieved my Royal Gramma's on Tuesday they looked the same way (they perked up after floating the bag in the tank for 15 minutes). It got pretty cold last night...maybe 25 degrees. The lady I spoke with on the phone said they actually prefer to ship in cold weather b/c they go into this hybernation state. I got the fish around 11:30 this morning and the water was pretty cold. All they have in the box with the fish is a stupid like hand warmer packet. So what do ya think, they're dead? :(

Honestly yes I belive they are not alive. Of course there isnt much harm in pouring out half of the water again and continuing to add water till its full and then let the bag sit for an hour or so. At this point their body temp should have rissen back up to 'reanimate' the fish.

From now on I'm picking up my LA orders at the FedEx station in Lakewood. I'd rather than sit there than sit in the cold truck any longer than they have to (I never get my shipments until after 2). If the fish haven't lived and they aren't sending new ones I'd be demanding my shipping be credited to my account as well.

Two of my little trimma goby's came doa. They were fine about the credit, but they didn't even ask it I wanted it reshipped. Apparently their policy is ship once then credit the card or account for it. At least you got a pair of grammas out of the deal, presumably for free, right?

Yes, the grammas were free. They weren't on our "fish wish list" but we're still going to keep one. I'm just so irritated and mad that we have to go through this.

Find the NJ Reefers Club (they congregate in a club forum on Reef Central). I'm sure you can trade them or sell them to a local reefer if you decide that you didn't want to keep them. I just picked one up. Had I known... :)

Poor Guys!

I have had GREAT luck with Saltwaterfish.com. Sounds like you must have quite a credit at etropicals, so it sounds like you need to try to get some fish (correct and alive)...but you may want to try saltwaterfish.com next time. Mine got to Maine in temperatures 5-10F..and the heat packs were still warm and not a dead item in my 72 item order (2 fish a reef package and assorted inverts).

I sure would contact etropicals and let them know what happened. I had a loss with liveaquaria (same company) and they were wonderful to deal with. They credited my account no questions asked.
