I was just about to clean my tank and I look at the filter and see a bunch of nasty stuff floating and sticking to my bio max. I went to pull the bag out and it all just started flowing in my tank. Clouded my tank almost instantly. I have had the top of the filter off for a while because it wouldn't stop making a buzzing sound but never had this happen before. I'm about to clean it now what it this stuff from.

It looks like a build up of debris, that's all. How often do you clean it? Lesson learned. NEVER mess with your HOB while its flowing water. You should take the filter off and clean the housing also. You'd be surprised what's on the bottom.

Ok I usually do a solid cleaning every other week take out all rocks and clean gravel but I thought I might it b from having the lid off the filter. Thank you
