Hi, I have a common Pleco in my tank. about 3 months ago I changed my substrate to sand. Ever since I changed it all he does it sit at the bottom. He still breathes normal and everything. I notice when I turn the light on in the morning he freaks out and hides in the back of the tank. He is also a lot darker color in the morning and by the afternoon he has a light, faded color. is there anything I can do? or is he just shy?

do you have any places for him to hide?

Male plecos tend to be really shy. They like to stay in caves all day. Females are the ones that like to be out and about so that may be your problem.

Plus they are nocturnal so they are usually most active in the early morning ours and in the evening.
