The false ones look like somewhat rounded in the belly a more darker gray maybe almost charcoal

I know it is too late but... It does not look like a true SAE to me. The black stripe does not look to extend to the end of the tail.

It is NOT a SAE. Dunno what commonly misidentified species it is though.

Looks like SAE to me based on the link mumma.of.two attached.

But, the pic on live aquaria is different enough that I'm not sure

Here are some pics of mine. See the jagged black line. It runs into the tail.
The easiest way to tell is by the number of barbells. SAE have one set the others have two sets.

His back is also the wrong color for a SAE, in addition to the line not continuing through the tail and the smooth line.
