6 weeks into my fishless cycle.... not ready yet, but close! My wife already thinks I am a crazy fish obsessed person and I don't even have my fish yet.
Those Red temple sure do grow fast! Plus my Sword in the middle/back had 2 runners that just took off, and my other struggling Amazons spurted a lot of new growth after I started fertilizing with Potassium & Iron in addition to the Flourish Comp I was already doing, and I've been adding Excel twice a week also. I also switched my light bulbs from a phillips natural sunshine (home depot) to the Max Plant Growth bulbs from an LFS. HUGE difference in tank appearance and plant growth. The Vallisneria on the left is actually about 1/3 of what was in there a few days ago, there's about 24-26 plants in there now; I cut all the newer growth off (another 20+ plants) and put it in my 10 (see below) in addition to giving away almost 2 dozen plants to people who took fish.
So here's the 10 now:
...and here's about 1/3 of what used to populate it...
I have a very prolific pair of Swordtails, a Pineapple female and a Painted male. In the last 10 days, I have given away - get this - almost 190 fry from the last 3 batches. I have given away a total of nearly 250 since she started dropping every 29 days (exactly to the day) since 3/31. I kept 10. She's ready to drop next week, along with a Molly, Guppy, and Platy. All 250 of them look about the same (like the Painted) except for one from the last batch that is bright orange. Wierd.
Just 2 months old. Need a couple more corals and I'll be happy with the aquascape. Then just a couple more fish and I'm good! Can't wait for it to fill in and mature.
The last pic is of my Flame Scallop nestled into his cave.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to get my new camera to take a good, focused pic.
OK,so after looking at the pic of my tank I had the urge to make some changes and additions. Changed the oversized brian with a much prettier and suitable open brain, added a clam - I couldn't resist it when I saw it - and a gorgonian in the back. I know they are hard to keep, but I am willing to feed it and keep it happy. Also cam across a special piece that i propped up in the middle on top of the rock.
