Hello All,

I have a 36 G planted tank.

Does anyone suggest a powerhead for this?

I used to have a cannister filter, but went to HOB. Way easier to clean. I also used to use a powerhead, but it seems like too much for such a small tank.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't think a powerhead is necessary as long as you aren't seeing signs of problems with low circulation. The HOB filters on my 30-gallon tanks seem to provide some splash at the top and circulate the water pretty well. I do have an airstone in one of the tanks to help with circulation and to give the corycats bubbles to play in.

Unless you are seeing serious dead spots or places where detritus is always gathering because of low water flow, you are probably just fine.
