problem with a discus -.-

My discus has a scale problem. Ugh. At first it looked like anchor worms but nothing is protruding anymore so maybe a fungus?

He looks way worse today. What should I do?

I've heard soaking the food in metronidazole can help. HITH is usually fatal, however.
