protine skimmer

please someone help me! I have a hang on skimmer type. mine hangs on the side. it was workiing fine but then I lost my vortext. i cant't get it back. it fills up when you turn it on and on the very bottom you have the water at least spinning but not in th main chamber. can someone please help me.
