How do you folks approach your trimming of stem plants? The ones that grow ridiculously fast? I have something that grows about 12" every week. Initially I was cutting it in half, trimming the lower leaves, and planting the trimming in order to fill in the space. It's gotten so dense that I've been tossing the trimmings (what a waste!).

Is this fine, or should I pull up the entire plant, and plant the fresh top half in its place? The new growth definitely has better leaf and stem health, but the replanted part "weeps" for several days, while the old planted half seems to be stunted by the clipping, but doesn't die. Both options tend to respond with massive growth after a few days...

If its too the point where you Cant use the cuttings then sell trade or trash. But yeah you cut low and let them get thick. Then maintain.

Ludwigia repens is easy to trade IMO.

Hm. This stuff grows like crazy. You can't tell in the pics, but the underside of the plant is a bright, bright pink. When I've got my lights on full blast for a few days, the whole thing turns pink (and so does my limnophila aromatica), but algae gets out of control (no co2). I wish my alternanthera reineckii grew like this.
