Ive purchased a 10g, 50w heater, and a Aqueon Quiteflow 10 to use as a QT/hospital tank.

Should I have this tank running 24/7, or am I good just using it as needed? Ive got the filter pad for the Aqueon 10 floating in my existing HOB in an effort to build up some BB on it.

I would just run the smaller filter all the time on the big tank, and use you aquarium water to fill qt tank when needed

+1 with kingkracker. I don't know about you but I have limited space for extra tanks so I only set up the QT tank when its needed. If you can keep extra filter media in your main tank that's great. Just remember that depending on why you are using the QT tank you may not want to put the filter media back into your main tank.
