question about tank cycle

This may sound stupid but should the main tank and sump/refugium cycle together or separately? just wondering because my LR will be here tomorrow and my refugium should be built by Saturday and installed.

well together is best but no harm done if you add the sump later. LR should do well before and after the sump. the fishes and other live marine creatures may not because the parameters will differ when a sump is added but have none so far. so your good to go but im a newbie.

This is a new tank so there will be NO fish for quite awhile,just LR and LS for a while....
