I am getting 2 female blue platies tomorrow (been waiting for the store to get them for 2 months). I need to put them in a temporary set up for about 6-8 hours before I can take them to my 46 gallon tank at home. My question is, will they be ok in about 3 gallons of water without a filter (will have a heater) for that amount if time? I know platies are messy fish but really can't get them to my tank sooner...

If you have an airstone that would be even better, but in my opinion they will be fine for 8 hours, just don't feed them.

I'd say it is a ok for that many hours as long as you have a bubbler going. Have to oxidize the water one way or another, if not filter, air pump is your best friend in a Q tank.
