Rabbit Snail Weird Growth

I just noticed today that my Rabbit Snail Bugs has what appears to be a weird growth on his head. Here is a picture. Any idea what this could be? Any tips on treatment?

Yes the sand is dirty. I've been trying to siphon it clean but it's hard to get everything. It looks much better than it did earlier believe it or not.

Lol, seriously. You photoshopped that right? I mean he looks like he's wearing and army helmet with a purple nose and eyes, mouth and all.

Unfortunately no. I cannot tell what he looks like today as he has been in his shell all day.
