Just thought I'd share our ram tank. 40 gal breeder with gbr's, one Bolivian, and a electric blue jack Dempsey. It's still a work in progress. I think we might do some drift wood and more plants. Thanks for looking!

Thanks! They were in a 55 community but we rehomed the others and went to rams only (minus the Dempsey). We got the breeder at the petco dollar/gal sale. Had just the black sand and rose quartz and we got the plants yesterday. It looks SO much better with the plants and I think I still want more!

I love having plants in mine! I have two fancies in a 46 gallon and I'm getting more tomorrow because they seem to play hide and seek in them. They're so cute! (God, my husband is right-I'm really becoming a dork!!!)

Haha not a dork. I name my fish and am
Just as concerned about my fish as I am my dog and cats! I love them!

Tracie, have you ever had oranda's or ryukin's? I want to put in a heater, but don't know the best ideal temp or how gradually I should raise the temp.

When we had our goldfish we didn't use a heater. They like the cooler water so we kept it room temp. They did great. The only thing I know is the require tons of filtration and water changes bc they have such a large bioload. I loved our goldfish but we loved on to cichlids and saltwater. I personally wouldnt put a heater in

Neat looking tank. Are all of the rams males? Are you planning to keep the EBJD in there long term?

The rams are male and female. Even had a spawning pair but it was their first go round so I believe they ate them. And we have a 125 cichlid tank that he'll go in when he's big enough. Right now he's still smaller than the gbr's. And we got him bc he wasnt the dark blue like you usually see in them, he's very light blue. They had a couple and he was awesome looking!

My EBJD is light colored like that also. I was just curious, I had my EBJD in a community setup from time to time as he was growing up as well, it worked out pretty good for the most part.

Do you have any close up pics of him?

Let me try and get one. He's not growing very fast, so I think he'll be in there a while! Give me a min and I'll play photographer

Ebjd......15 char blah blah

hah, he's tiny, how cute.

We've had him almost six months and it feels like he hast grown at all. We do regular water changes but I don't know how to make him grow faster!

Thanks! There is often conflicting info everywhere!! Yeah, I have 2 filters. A 200 and a 100 in one tank! Messy buggers! I adore them, but once I master everything ( and I'm getting there!) then I may consider a SW tank. A lot of work withPWC's but worth it. They are like water dogs, following me around begging for food!

Thanks again girl.

We once tried to raise the tank temp and the goldfish freaked. There was like slime stuff everywhere. Not good. We had some shubunkins and comets and lost about half. Lesson learned. They were our first fish and we learned slot from them and aa. Now we have a 125 cichlid tank, a 75 sw, a 40 breeder salt and a 40 breeder ram. The addiction escalated quick! And all our fish do the same thing when we walk by the tank. They always think it's feeding time!!!
