Okay I'm new to breeding Bettas in I started in a five gallon that use to be some type of aquarium. I never took the gravel out and spawned Bettas in it; the time came when they where sinking from the bubble nest into the gravel. the gravel size is like a basic round store bought gravel Will these guys swim up when they are free-swimming or just die in the gravel????

Both things are possible. It's best to breed Bettas in a bare tank. If you can siphon out the gravel, the fry would be better off.
