Rebuilding my 36g bowfront

Well its about time I redo my 36g. The tank has been running for a few months now and I just got done fighting off an ich outbreak. I have never been to pleased with my decor and have always liked the look of planted tanks so I have decided what the h*** why not give it a shot.

Right now the tank has 5 Bleeding Heart Tetras and 6 Albino Cories.

I want to add 1 more Bleeding Heart Tetra, 6 Rummynose Tetras, 1 angelfish And a EBR.

Plant wise I want some Amazon Swords,Narrow Leaf ChainSword, Dwarf Hairgrass and Red Rubin


So far I have ordered a light fixture to replace my crappy stock fixture
30in 2Bulbs fixtures

I bought a 12p bag of flora-max to mix with my gravel because I only have about 1 1/2in in there right now

Well that's about it for right now lets hope it all works out, ill be updated this as I progress in my dive into planted aquatics. I'm open to suggestion about my aquascape and anything you may know to help out.

For the time being I plan on useing root tabs, dosing Excel every other day and dosing Flourish once a week. I have never really looked into ferts if you have any advice on ferts I would love the help.

Sounds good to me...lol I'm not the best on ferts but I use PPS-Pro as my dry feet dosing, and dose excel at least twice a week and I use Total, Phosphate, and Iron root tabs from AquariumPlants.com And my plants adore all of it. I also run pressurized CO2...I think PPS-Pro is a really good method of dosing the necessary dry ferts (all the micros and macros plants need).

I don't have real plants in there yet those are my plastic plants. I'm waiting for my light to get here before i start adding real plants.

With that lighting fixture you may have a hard time growing the DHG or chain sword, since I see the total wattage would be 48 watts...that's a little more than 1wpg. I know that wpg is a bad way of measuring t, and you should take PAR into account, but I'm not as educated on all that

I pretty much only looked at PAR data.

So I decided to add the so called "Pre-Rinsed" Floramax today.

This is the first rinse

This is about 15 rinses in

And after no joke 40 rinses its as clear as its getting

I added it into my tank with a cup took about 15 mins

After all the rinsing the water was still cloudy so i did a water change this is my tank right now

When my light gets here i will start adding plants.

Great start! I also have a 36g bowfront that I use dry ferts in, using the pps-pro method...

So my light came from fishneedit.com today, It was a day early so that's great. It came packed real well no damage to the box or anything like that!

i open it up and put it on the tank and man its bright!!!

Me being so impatient I put a amazon sword and some Anacharis from the 10g in, I plan on going to the LFS Saturday when they get there new plant shipments in!

I was useing a 17w t-8 before this light it barely lit the tank lol.
