Hi everyone. I have a red blood parrot in a tank with a tiger oscar both are about 4-5 inches long and have only been in the tank for 2.5 weeks. The tiger oscar is swims around, follows my finger, eats regularly and is doing completely fine. But the red blood parrot will not leave the corner of the tank. He hides behind a dragon I have sitting in the corner and lays on the rocks or against the dragon, sometimes partially sideways looking half dead. Sometimes when he is just laying on the bottom he looks like he is almost hyperventilating. The blood parrot has not eaten in the entire two weeks I've had it and I'm starting to get worried that it will starve itself to death or something. He was the most active fish at the store I bought it from and was behaving the total opposite of what it is now. I know blood parrots are shy in a new tank for a while but I thought since he is a bit bigger than the tiger oscar that he wouldn't have a problem. Ive noticed that when I turn off the light in the tank that sometimes it will come out and have a swim but it still wont eat the pellets or minnows. Ive tested pH and everything else and the water is fine. Is there a problem with my fish or is this behavior normal? Also any advice on getting my fish to eat would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
