Red Spot on lower part of fish

My g/f's freshwater fish just developed a red spot on the back. I am not positive on what kind of fish she has.. she says its a Mickey.

Here is a picture.. sorry for the quality. Any ideas what it is?

A bit more info about the tank would be helpful. Tank size, parameters, water change schedule, feeding etc?

It might be as simple as severe constipation or it may be a parasite or a bacterial infection. What other symptoms does the fish exhibit? Breathing quickly? Trouble swimming?

Take size is I believe a 5 gallon tank, only 1 or two fish that size in the tank. She said it was staying at the bottom but she did a partial water change and he seemed to be more active.

I don't know if she does water changers regularly, and I know she doesn't have the stats on the tank as far as ammonia, ph, etc.

I haven't heard from her today about how the fish is doing.
