Return pumps

I need some info on returns. I'm confused to when it say head loss and the height at when you get head loss. I have a 75 gallon with a overflow rated 700gph I'm not sure what pump to go with.

Headloss is the amount of water flow that you lose depending on the distance the water is traveling. With a 75g with a 700gph overflow I would go with a mag 9.5. It is 900 gph and will become like 700gph by the time it reaches the tank.

Yep, thats the one. I run mag drives in all but one of my tanks and have never had any issues with them.

Carey- how often did you clean your mag? I also had a mag950, it's been running or about 6 months now. Should I take it out and clean it up?

I'd say every 6 months or so to take it out and clean the impeller.
