Alright I'm about to finally get my own RO/DI unit and I have a couple questions if someone can answer them.

(1) Will a 5 stage RO/DI unit remove chloramines? Or should I still add Prime?

(2) My house has copper pipes, do I need to worry about this or will the unit remove any trace?

I bought a TDS meter already, What kind of reading should I expect?

TIA

Sorry, I can only answer 2 of 3 questions...

(2) Copper pipes? Why worry? Your RO/DI Unit should take care of that.

(3) Do a search of TDS on this site...you'll get more info than you know what to do with...

ro/di will remove it all....
TDS meter should read 0 if you unit is working correctly.
check you tap water to see what your starting TDS is..

I've finally got an RO/DI (dual DI!) on the way this week.

Is it safe to assume that as long as you're reading 0 TDS, that chloramines are being removed?

I'm nervous about the media wearing out after 4-5 months, and accidentally adding essentially un-treated or under-treated water for top-offs, and killing my biological filtration.

Do people using RO/DI check it for chloramines from time to time?

The TDS meter shoudl be sufficient. Usually you don't wnat to see more than 1%-2% TDS of what's going in. For example my water is 40 going in and 0-1 coming out. my 2 cents.
