Rock Anemone, AKA aiptasia

Yesterday, I got a nice ricordea rock, its farely large, but I made it fit...Anyways there is a small aiptasia on it, in a little hiding spot, I know how to kill it, but when it dies I dont think I can get to it...

Could I just leave it if I can get it? Maybe I should feed it, let them grow and sell them like eTropicals does...

Once the aip is dead, it should be easy enough to suck out the goo with a baster or large pipette or syringe

The scientific name that etropicals is using is incorrect.

They are selling Culique Anemones, but the scientific name is (Bartholomea annulata), not, Aiptasia Mutabilis.

The aiptasia that you aquired on the rock, I imagine is not the same thing... The ones we usually get on LR or some of the frags, is a pest..and are not sold singley.

Below, is a curly que anemone, that I have..I bought it on a piece of LR I wanted.. The LFS sells them for $6.99, but, because I wanted the rock, I paid $6.49 lb for the rock and he gave me the anemone.. It had attached in a crevice, and they couldn't get it out without killing it...

well, I knew the anemone in the etropicals thing is a real curlique, AKA flower anemone. I just found it funny they had the name wrong. My anemone is pictured below. I think I am learning to take good pictures!!

Keep in mind, common names are just that, common, and are regional What we call a rock/flower anemone may not be viewed as the same elsewhere

OK, I feel you are confused with my statements...

Aiptasia, rock anemone

Curlique Anemone, flower anemone, tube anemone, Ceriathus membranaceus
(there is a lot describing that one anemone, those are what I have been used to calling them)
