It needs high light to achieve the best color so it all depends on your lighting. It also grows best when CO2 or liquid carbon is used daily and good ferts.

So would it do well in T5 HO lighting? I use Flourish Excel and the PPS pro method of fertilization.
 
What size tank? It should do fine but you might want to use 1ml liquid carbon for every 2 gallons of water daily unless you have delicate shrimp in the tank.

I have a 30 gallon tank. I've been adding 3 mL of Flourish Excel everyday. From the looks of it, I've been dosing way too low.
