Is it possible to go from saltwater to brackish? I just lost my last fish and have decided to try brackish water. Must I start from scratch?
I have live sand and live rock in the tank now.

brackish fish can live in saltwater or freshwater for some time, even life moderately long lives. however saltwater fish cannot live in brackish water, nor can freshwater fish

The specific gravity of brackish water, i head wavers from 1.008-1.018 so the live rock and sand may or may not adjust to the change

The organisms in your live rock/sand will almost certainly die off in brackish level salinity, however if you lower the Sg no more than ~.001-.002 per week you should be able to keep maintain beneficial bacteria colonies.
