I have a 90 g mixed reef. Nitrates are too high and am in the process of getting it down. I did a 30 gallon WC yesterday by siphoning the heck out of the sand bed. (Used RODI water and Instant Icean Reef Crystals)
Afterwards my way too many little sea stars which seem to be reproducing like crazy in these water conditions were out of their hiding places in the rocks and were visible. Quite a few were spurting this cloudy stuff out of their body.
What was it? Reproducing? Reacting to the water?
