Thought I would post my progress on my new 140g I'm setting up. I washed it up and it's in the house on the stand.. Sand/gravel mixture and the driftwood will hopefully go in this weekend. Also received the 304b canister filter today.

Awhhhhhh yes, a 6 foot tank - very exciting!

If I had to guess, Id say the waters will soon be inhabited by South American Cichlids.... am I close "The Oscar"? :)

Keep us updated through images, I'll be following your build....

Nice tank, since you have one so big how about getting peacock bass. As long as you have a good heater they are very rewarding !

I'll be putting my two oscars in it. I love the peacock bass! My next project will Probaly be something along those lines. I have been soaking a 3 foot PC of driftwood that I'm pretty stoked about seeing hit the water.

I knew it - Oscars, Im a lucky guesser!!!! :)

You might be awhile on the wood sinking on its own, that's a big ol piece of lumber - you may have to secure it to a rock in the tank.

Lol , great guess

I'm going to secure it to slate tile so I can bury it In the sand . I'll hopefully have pics up later .. This stupid rain may slow down my progress for today. I'm hoping to start cycling Tomm.

That's a nice tank. Looks good.
Thanks!

Ok so I got the gravel/sand mixture down. I also put the piece of driftwood in.. I'm soaking my rocks now and will Probaly add those later if they pressure wash ok. It's taking a little longer then expected cycling prob won't start for a few days.. I'm still needing my heater and few odds and ends.

I love the piece of driftwood. Can't wait to see it up and running.

Thanks, me and my dad go driftwood hunting on Sundays.. This was a good find.

I got the rocks out in. I don't know if they will stay in the exact location their in , but this is a start until I place the plants in Tomm.

Thanks!

I added the plants today. I also started the cycle , ammonia is setting at around 3.5-4 ppm. I will be adding some sand from my 45 Tomm to help speed things up.

Very beautiful tank! What will you be keeping in it? Are you going to do fishless cycle? I did the cycle with fish and it ended today after a month of cloudy water :)

Thanks!! I'm doing a fish less cycle now. I'm keeping my oscars , tiger Botia , and silver dollars in there.

Nice! I used to have a silver dollar in a 55g tank, lovely fish! I wish you the best of luck on your tank!

This thing is really taking shape! Hadn't heard of Tiger Botia, looked it up and looks nice. I have angelicus botia.
