Depends on the kind of shrimp really. Ghost, amano, RCS are all pretty hardy and will do just fine in a regular tank assuming you don't have fish that will eat them.
That probably depends on the shrimp, too. If it helps I treated fish with Ich by using heat and salt and the Ghost Shrimp I had all survived with very high temps. But I can't answer for other shrimps.
I cant say the same, Ive had amano shrimp in both my 20 and 30 gallon that least had 10ppm of nitrates. Im not sure how other fish shrimp are with them, but amanos are fine.
i have a 10gal with jave moss and red cherry shrimp, with the temp at 73f they didnt realy breed much i bumped up the temp to 78f and now there makin lil shrimpys left and rite. i just feed them flake food and a peice of alge waffer now and then.
