Sick platy?

Hey guys and gals

My sunset platy is just sitting on the top of the water he isn't swimming around but just 20 mins ago I so him swimming freely around the tank

Sometimes they do that.

Is it showing any other odd behavior or has there been anything wrong with your tank that would make you think it could be sick?

We did a 50 % water change because our nitrides were a bite high and our ph is a tiny bit higher than normal but he's sorta SWIMING again but he come to the top more than usual

Sometimes they come up when there isn't enough oxygen in the water, but a lot of the time they do that because they want to. I know I was really worried that mine were sick because they were hanging out at the surface, but then they went back to swimming around the tank.

If you did a 50% change, what are your nitrates at now? Or was that nitrites you were talking about?

They are perfect now but they were a little high I didn't do the tests a friend did
