I recently purchased a nice assorted mushroom rock at the LFS. Several of the polyps have small reddish spots on them about the size of a match head. The other day I noticed they were actually raised bumps on the polyps and not part of the mushroom itself. I was amazed to see them move! They remind me of an amoeba or something similar. Any ideas?

Sounds like red flat worms and they are a bad thing to have in a tank. I would take that rock out asap and get some flat worm exit and place the coral in a bucket of SW with FW exit for 30 min or so. If they moved onto your tank LR you may be in for a battle in the future.
They reproduce so fast its amazing. My friend has a FW infestation and they are so think you cant see the SB. He is going to do battle with them soon. I have them in my Fowlr fuge and they have not taken over too bad, it seems the low light in the fuge is keeping them in check.
