Hello all. I have been working a new job for about a month that takes away from my aquarium time, so I am looking to get a freshwater invertibrate for my goldfish tank to help with algae and waste. So far I have only gotten feedback regarding snails as being the most compatible tank-mates for goldfish, but I am wondering if there is another kind I could look for when I go to my LFS tomorrow.

What is the best kind of snail for goldfish, if it matters, assuming I am limited to those?

Any type of snail that is large enough that it wont fit in a goldfish's mouth is fine. I would opt for something quarter-size (or larger). However, snails or any other type of creature/fish are not going to solve waste/algae issues and will only contribute to your bioload. Only regular, large water changes and cleaning can do this. If theres an algae issue, the root cause should be addressed to solve it. :)
