At a lfs that I go to get free ro water, I felt that I needed to make a purchase after taking over 100 gallons of ro over the past couple months. Looking to control both brown and green algea in my african tank. He dangled a 3" snowball pleco infront of me for $65. He did not know much about it and said it was a rare fish that had never come into his shop before. I tried to do research but had no service. He then forced me to buy it when he lowered the price to $45.
After I bought him I read everything I didn't want to.
Peaceful
Can get huge (rare)
Likes soft high current water
And a bad algae eater.

So why when I put him in the tank, did he chase my most aggressive mbuna out of his teritory, and officially steal it from him?
Why is my tank spotless with no algea? How is he thriving with a high ph and medium flow water. And I just added dw, does he need it?

All Plecos have different temperaments. You can have one that behaves completely different from the general behavior of that species. It seems like your just happens to be more aggressive and have a taste for algea or he was pretty hungry. Your Pleco has great coloration. I wish I had one.
