Spilt and messed up fins!

My apisto. Agassizi double red male has a split back fin. I got him like this but the outsides of it seem to be a clear to light brownish color. Its not fin rot. What's wrong? Sorry for the bad photo!

possibly an injury? all you can do is keep the water super clean, and give him time. watch for any signs of infection or fungus... my male angel's fins slpit almost to him body due to abrupt water param changes when i first got him... changed 50% every 2-3 days, and used stress coat in the water and he healed in no time! good luck!

I agree on the stress coat and water changes. My convict had injured and split fins when I got him and I used this method.
