1. Hey, what is a decent brand?
2. What should I look for?
3. Do they break down what is exactly in the water or is it just a number of DOC?
4. If I have DOC in my water, what does that mean?

Thanks!

YEs - TDS meters are available from many venders on the internat, or your LFS may carry them.

Most places that sell RO units will sell the meters.

The TDS will tell you how much dissolved solids there are in your water. I don't think any of them break down the amount, just a total figure inlcuding any phosphates, silicates, nitrates etc.

As a guide to what you would expect to see:

Tap water: 300-400
Brita filtered water: 140-160
RO: 5-20
