not really just getting started, but think i may basically have to.....
so, the marineland stealth heater in my 3yo 36g corner fowlr malfunctioned a week ago and sent my tank water to 100. i had done a pwc two days beforehand, so i know it was at this temp for less than 48hours.
the only livestock in the tank were 3 hermits, 1 emerald, and 1 snail. (just moved and was about to restock)
question #1: is there any possibility any of these guys would have survived?
for the previous six days my chem has read as:
amm. - .75
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 40
ph - 8 (it's always been around 8)
so, i thought the bio filter had been killed as well, but then the test today revealed the ammonia has dropped to below .25 (not quite 0).
question #2: how should i proceed?
i'm thinking either dosing with ammonia to just get it to fully cycle and possibly adding some more lr to aid in a cycle. (there was about 45lbs lr in the tank)
thanks.
