I want to get a fiddler crab, and i was wondering if they need a platform on the surface, or if a piece of driftwood or other deco would be sufficient.

That is, the wood or deco sticking above the surface.

I have a fiddler and he doesn't ever come out of the water. I would suggest hiding spots though as mine is always in hiding.

Yes, they do need land. And brackish water. I kept two fiddlers for 3 years (I started neglecting them for awhile) in a tank with just topsoil mud and a brackish water pool. They liked to bury themselves and make mud balls sifting through the mud for food. They were fed freeze dried brine shrimp.

IMO fiddlers won't last longer than a year without access to land. And all the while they'll be suffering.

Brackish water? Really, this is interesting to me I did not know that maybe I'll throw him in my brackish tank then
