I have a school of tiger barbs that will not cooperate with any living plants... any ideas on new plants? I've tried dwarf hairgrass, micro sword, Anubias, java fern, java moss, and cabomba

How big is the school

Wow that is weird I have tiger barbs and they never do that

What about simple sword plants ? Some of them are fairly tough, and they can make a lot of babies when they put out a runner.. much faster growing than ferns or anubias or mosses are.

Or some of the fast growing stem plants.. water wisteria or anacharis ? Might grow fast enough to keep up. Floating water sprite might be left alone too, or frogbit.
