unknown live plant appears in unplanted tank???

Hello,

I am pretty new at keeping aquariums, i have a 2.5 set up, and working on a 15 and a 29 gallon.

My problem is that in my 2.5 tank which only has artificial plants, i noticed there are some leaves sprouting from the gravel and I can see roots growing into the gravel!! I definitely did not plant anything, so what are these plants? Are they safe? Where did they come from? Has this happened to anyone else before? Should I keep them or take them out? and how?

Any chance you could post a picture?
Do you keep birds that perhaps a seed might have gotten into the tank? I've had this happen. :/

I do, I DO have birds! I have a small parrot, but he has never been near this aquarium, well not that I know of... he IS a very cheeky devil... lol

what did you do in your case?

I just pulled it out because it was obviously a seed. My birds aren't near the tanks either but since you do have a parrot, that would be my guess.
