The birdsnest that i got a couple of weeks ago bleached out within one day of placing it into my tank. I drip acclimated it for several hours the way i do with all new live stock before adding it to my tank. I do a 15 gal water change every week on a 55 gal tank, water levels are optimal, except Nitrates wich stay about at about 20-30 because of the eel. I have 2x175W MH CV 20k, and 2xi33W T8 03 Actinics. I use Oceanic and IO salts (2/1 mix, because i am changing from IO to Oceanic) and keep the tank at about 81-82F. The store i got the birdsnest from quickly replaced the coral with a new one that is doing fine (as far as i can tell). Hermit crabs are constantly inside of this coral grazing on it. I have no idea what they are eating. Here are links to 2 large pics that i took today showing the coral. I am hoping it comes back. I have had other corals come back after bleaching out this bad, do you think it will?
