Hello go...

The standard water change for a cycling tank is 25 percent. This will get the water back into the safe zone for the fish and leave enough dissolved nitrogen in the water to feed the growing bacteria. Ideally, you want to use a hardy species to provide the ammonia, but if you test the tank water daily for traces of ammonia and nitrite and change one-quarter of the water when you have a positive test, your fish stand a better chance of survival.
