So today I did a 25% water change, cleaned my filter pads(in aquarium water) and added a new filter cartridge to my hang on(old filter cartridge is still in place). Now(2hrs later) my water is getting cloudy and has that faint "new fishtank" odor. Should I be worried, or is that just a bacteria bloom centered around the new filter cartridge, and all of my old nitro-bacteria will take care of my fish wastes? Also, I'm all out of test strips so I don't have anyway to tell you my parameters.

I am assuming your tank is aged, you should be fine, your bacteria is all over the place...the water, substrate, decorations, etc.

You probably stirred up some waste while you were cleaning and it's just getting processed out.
