When doing a water change how do you measure the amount of prime needed ? So if you do a water change do you measure the amount of prime for as much new water your putting back into the tank ? Or do you put as much prime for how many gallons you have in your tank ?

if you are adding it to only the new water, then use only enough for the amount of new water.
If adding it to the entire tank, then use enough to treat the entire tank volume.

so if you have a 50 gallon tank and change ten gallons and fill buckets to add the new water, then treat it in the buckets and use enough for ten gallons.
If you add the water directly back into the tank with a hose, then you need to use enough to treat 50 gallons.
;)
this is also in the instructions on the bottle.
