Water color change?

Hey all. I have a piece of driftwood i would like to put in my tank. I believe the water will turn yellow due to the tannins. In order to make the water clear again do i HAVE to do a water change? Or can i use a water clayrfier? (I dont want to wash the driftwood because i may like the yellow color im not sure yet. The tank is freshwater 20 gallon with a aqueon 50 gall filter

If you want to remove the tannins just put some activated charcoal or purigen in your filter. Job done.
