I have some Hornwart and I have just trimmed it. I used sewing thread to tie the bottoms of the stems together and placed it under the gravel. I came home today and they are floating... What type of weight can I use along with the thread or fishing line?

I use enough slip sinkers I need to and then bury them in the substrate. If you don't have any slip sinkers, you can find them at and fishing store, bass pro, cabelas, anything like that. Since you have fishing line though, i'm guessing you should have some slip sinkers.

Try planting the stems at an angle, this helps the gravel to better hold them in place while their roots get established.

If I were to use (this is what I found in my tackle box) Environmentally Friendly Tin Sinkers I bought last year... Unleaded sinkers. They started making these since waterfowl was getting poisoned from lead. Are these okay?
