Thanks Brian. Its not a fully planted tank i am going to do just a few plants for the small guys

Have you thought of planting the roots of house plants into the sump filled with biomedia or gravel so they soak up the nitrification process???

Here is a couple pictures of my sump. It is an open top and haven't thought about closing it. They are all low light plants and I don't dose anything to this or add root tabs. It looks a little lightly stocked right now because I just sold a ton of plants. They grow like weeds in there. There is also one peace lily (house plant) that was left over from my other planted tank.

I do get better growth out of my planted tank because of dosing. The plants grow a little thicker and the leaves on some n the sump start to look clear once they get s big
