I was visiting my grandpa in southeastern Michigan and saw a long-time landscape and pond business that now had sw and fw fish. I thought I would check the place out and was shocked to see that the tanks were in a greenhouse. Everything in the tanks was covered with algae. He was selling lr that was covered with it (and way higher prices than I have here).

Is that as shocking as I thought? Is it good (or even ok) for the fish? He stated that he had to scrape the tank fronts (and sides?) for algae at least twice a day. None of the fish looked sick and he had corals and sharks.

I'm just glad I have a better selection of lfs here.
